Philip Conaghan was appointed to the General Surgery Department at the Royal Berkshire as a colorectal surgeon in April 2009.
He graduated from Oxford Medical School in 1995 and subsequently trained in Norwich, London and then back in Oxford. Following the completion of surgical training in 2008 he secured one of the prestigious Ethicon laparoscopic colorectal fellowships in Nottingham in 2008 before being appointed to the Royal Berkshire.
He was awarded a DM post-graduate degree from Oxford University for his research into bowel cancer.
He specialises in laparoscopic (keyhole) bowel surgery for bowel cancer and inflammatory bowel disease; the treatment of perianal conditions such as haemorrhoids, fissures and fistulae; colonoscopy and all types of hernias.
