Consultant Surgeon, Royal Berkshire Hospital
Daniel McGrath qualified from Queen’s University, Belfast. He completed his general surgical training in the Cambridge / East Anglian region. This culminated in a prestigious Laparoscopic Fellowship, at St. Mark’s Hospital, Harrow. During the fellowship he was trained in Enhanced Recovery after surgery. This was all preceded by a period of research into many aspects of bowel cancer, about which he published widely. This research was carried out in Australia and resulted in the award of a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy). Daniel also provides training for courses held at the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and St. Mark’s Hospital.
Daniel’s sub-speciality training is in Colorectal Surgery, providing up-to-date treatments for anal and rectal disorders, as well as bowel cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. Where appropriate all major surgery will be carried out laparoscopically (keyhole). This is also true for hernias and gall bladder disease. He also provides diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures (flexible telescopes) including OGD, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy and Colonoscopy.
