Our eye surgeons provide micro-incision modern cataract surgery at Dunedin Hospital, Reading, Berkshire. Most operations are done under local anaesthetic as a day-case procedure. Cataracts are opacities in the lens of the eye which affect the vision making it cloudy, as well as causing glare and loss of contrast sensitivity. With modern cataract surgery the lens is replaced with an artificial lens inside the eye. This quick and effective operation can usually return the vision back to normal again.
