The Gynaecology Practice is lead by Consultant Mr Alex Swanton.
His undergraduate training was at UCL and postgraduate training was predominantly in London, Oxford and Reading. He has a doctorate (MD) which specialized in women with polycystic ovaries undergoing IVF treatment. He has won several awards for research including the ‘Prize Paper Award’ at the British Fertility Society 2009 and the ‘In-Training Award for Research’ at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine 2008.
Mr Swanton said, “As well as offering a general gynaecology service I have a particular special interest in fertility and minimal access surgery. I can perform laparoscopic surgery for a number of procedures including hysterectomies and moderate-advanced endometriosis surgery”. Mr Swanton is also involved with the satellite IVF in Reading which is linked with the Oxford Fertility Unit.
