Skin disorders and cancer
Skin disorders cover a wide range of conditions, some benign, some very serious, and some even a sign of another underlying illness.
A skin disorder not only affects your physical health, but may also affect your emotional well-being. Every year millions of people suffer from some kind of skin disorder.
Skin cancer represents the mst commonly diagnosed malignancy in the United Kingdom. It is also the second most common cancer in the young population (20 - 39 age group). When skin cancer is found early it is the mostly easy to treat and poses only a small threat to life. But one type, melanoma, is difficult to treat unless detected early. There are 7,000 cases of melanoma a year and this type accounts for three quarters of skin cancer deaths.
At Spire Dunedin, in addition to the Dermatology services we offer, we run nurse lead clinics focusing on mole screening and phototherapy for psoriasis and other conditions.
The team at Dunedin Dermatology consists of Dr Rima Clayton, Dr Martin James & Dr Daron Seukeran who are all Consultant Dermatologists in Berkshire.
