Liposculpture

Liposculpture can be used on your face to improve the appearance of wrinkles, crow's feet, laughter lines, some types of scar, sunken cheeks and other indented areas of skin. It can also be used to fill out the back of your hands.

In liposculpture, fat is taken from one area of your body, such as the thighs or stomach, and injected into another area to fill it out.

During liposculpture your specialist will identify a suitable donor site and make a small cut in the area. A tube is then placed into the incision site and fat is removed into a syringe. Fat cells are then inserted into the destination area to create the desired effect.

After the procedure, you'll need to wear a dressing over the area for a few days.

Although the results of liposculpture tend to last longer than some temporary synthetic fillers, it is not a permanent treatment and the fat will gradually be reabsorbed into the body over time.

Liposculpture may be used in conjunction with other treatments such as laser resurfacing or chemical peels to treat severe facial wrinkles.

All procedures carry risks as well as benefits. The chance of complications following liposculpture depends on the type of treatment and other factors such as your general health. Your specialist will explain how the risks apply to you.
