Congratulations to Professor Anan Shetty (Spire Alexandra Hospital), who won the Innovation award at the Laing & Buisson Independent Healthcare Awards on Tuesday 20th September.
Mr Shetty was recognised at the prestigious awards for his work introducing a groundbreaking treatment for cartilage defects - the first of its kind worldwide. Developed by South Korean bio-medical company RMS (Regenerative Medical Systems), the treatment enables damaged cartilage to be replaced by a specially developed purified atelocollagen gel. The minimally-invasive procedure can be carried out as a day case, with a short recovery time and has also been used to treat fractures where traditional surgery has failed.
We are also delighted that several other Spire Healthcare employees were finalists at the awards: Paul Leach and the Organisational Development Team (central office) were nominated for Management Excellence and Nicola Miller and the Hotel Services Team (Spire Cardiff Hospital) were in the running for Hotel Services.
Spire’s Director of Clinical Services, Dr Jean-Jacques de Gorter, presented the award for Medical Practice, which was sponsored by Spire Healthcare.
Well done to Mr Shetty and all of Spire’s nominees, it’s a fantastic achievement.
