This year we’re pleased to say this year Spire has been shortlisted for four Independent Healthcare Awards. The awards are an annual ceremony run by Laing and Buisson, one of the leading sources of healthcare intelligence. They will take place on 7 October at the Lancaster Hotel, London and are the main awards ceremony for the private healthcare sector.
The four awards we’ve been shortlisted for, and why, are:
Healthcare Outcomes: Clinical Services Team, Spire Healthcare
Our investment and focus on clinical standards and quality are central to Spire’s reputation and drive our success. Spire can demonstrate excellent clinical outcomes across a range of indicators, reflecting the commitment and dedication of clinical teams across Spire to improving patient care pathways. As an example, the latest PROMs data published by the Department of Health demonstrates that patients undergoing a hip or knee replacement at a Spire hospital report better than average health outcomes. Also, in 2013, there were no reported cases of MRSA bacteraemia across our hospitals.
Excellence in Risk Management: Mr Rhidian Morgan-Jones at Spire Cardiff Hospital
Mr Morgan-Jones, an orthopaedic consultant at Spire Cardiff Hospital has introduced a patient centred relationship map to help all departments and teams collaborate effectively for each patient to help ensure they receive the best possible care. The map helps to improve the planning of complex orthopaedic cases before admission, and to ensure that arrangements made for all eventualities.
Best use of technology: Debs Scott and Ellie Bentley at Spire Murrayfield Hospital Edinburgh
In 2013 Debs Scott and Ellie Bentley from Spire Murrayfield Hospital in Edinburgh introduced the Ardeo eMDT workflow system to facilitate multi-disciplinary team (MDT) discussions for patients with breast cancer. This streamlines the process for MDT meetings significantly and helps to ensure patients are placed on the most appropriate care pathway for their condition.
Innovation: Perform at St George’s Park
Last year Perform at St George’s Park started a new partnership with Michael Johnson Performance, the US-based performance training brand founded by four-time Olympic Champion and current 400m World Record holder, Michael Johnson. The partnership saw a new range of performance training services become available to players and athletes of all abilities at St George’s Park, as well as bespoke residential camps designed for nurturing the talent of young people.
