Mr. Chatakondu was born in Bristol and educated at Bristol Grammar School. He qualified in 1992 from Charing Cross and Westminster medical school now part of Imperial College, London.
As a specialist registrar, Mr Chatakondu undertook orthopaedic training on the North West Thames London rotation and gained broad experience in all aspects of general orthopaedics and trauma. During this time he gained a special interest in spinal surgery and as such he undertook a combined neurosurgical and orthopaedic spine fellowship in Melbourne, Australia.
Mr. Chatakondu commenced work as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Frimley Park Hospital in 2004. Having been appointed as a general orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in spinal surgery; he now practices almost exclusively in the management of spinal pain and pathology.
His interests are the operative and non-operative management of neck and back pain and pathology including spinal fractures and tumours incorporating minimally invasive and microsurgical techniques.
Procedures performed include: microdiscectomy, kyphoplasty, vertebroplasty, minimally invasive spinal fusion, flexible stabilisation, cervical discectomy and fusion, epidural and facet joint injections, sacroiliac joint fusion.
