Mr Edward Palfrey qualified from Cambridge University and St Mary's, London in 1976. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh in 1978. Mr Palfrey trained initially as a General Surgeon before specialising in Urology in 1981.
Prior to coming to Frimley Park Hospital in 1990, Mr Palfrey was the Assistant Director of St Thomas' Hospital Lithotripter Centre - the first NHS unit in the country providing such a service.
Mr Palfrey was the lead of the Urology Department at Frimley Park Hospital for ten years and saw an expansion of the service from one full time consultant to four, with an associated increase in specialisation within urology. After having been the Clinical Director in Surgery at Frimley Park Hospital and the Chairman of Consultant staff at Clare Park Hospital, Mr Palfrey was appointed to the board at Frimley Park Hospital as the Medical Director. He has managed to maintain his General Urology Practice with a special interest in stone disease.
