Gallbladder removal: what to expect at Spire Clare Park Hospital

The process begins with a consultation, where a consultant will make examinations and discuss your medical history. From this they’ll determine whether you require open surgery and a few days’ stay in hospital, or a less invasive keyhole procedure. The latter could see you leaving hospital within 24 hours of your operation.

On the day, the team will take great care of you. You’ll be shown to your private room while our consultants prepare. The procedure should take no more than a few hours, and as little as an hour for some keyhole operations.
