Mr Chissell trained at St. Bartholomews Hospital, qualifying in 1985. He did his orthopaedic training at Charing Cross Hospital.

Mr Chissell spent two years abroad at the end of his training, studying arthroscopic knee surgery and joint replacement surgery. One year was spent in the United States. The first six months in Louisville, Kentucky and the second six months at Duke University North Carolina. The second year at Sportsmed SA, Adelaide, South Australia.

Mr Chissell has been a consultant at Frimley Park Hospital since September 1997, specialising in arthroscopic knee surgery, including anterior & posterior cruciate reconstruction as well as lower limb joint replacement and revision knee replacement. He is the present Clinical Director of Orthopaedics.

Mr Chissell is a Fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Association for Surgery of the Knee.

Mr Chissell was born and brought up on a farm in Dorset. He was educated at Canford School. He is married and has three children.
