Frimley Park Hospital
Mr Tilney graduated from St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London and undertook Basic Surgical Training in Guildford and Chichester. Appointed to the South West Thames Higher Surgical Training Programme he undertook research on quality assessment in rectal cancer surgery at St Mary’s Hospital (Imperial College London) leading to an MD thesis supported by a Royal College of Surgeons of England Research Fellowship and a quality improvement grant from The Health Foundation. Research interests include rectal cancer, outcomes analysis and quality improvement, laparoscopic colorectal surgery and ileal pouch surgery and he has collaborated with St Marks Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Ohio, USA.
He completed subspecialist training at St George’s Hospital, The Royal Surrey and Frimley Park where he developed his interest in Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery and was appointed Consultant General And Colorectal Surgeon, with an interest in Minimally Invasive Surgery, in June 2009.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of the Associations of Coloproctology and Surgery of Great Britain and Ireland and of the Royal Society of Medicine.
Henry is married to Aysha, a local GP, and most of their spare time is taken up by their two young daughters who have temporarily interrupted their involvement in sailing, scuba diving and skiing.
