I am a consultant dermatologist with a special interest in the diagnosis and management of skin cancers. I am fortunate to be one of the very few clinicians in the UK able to offer all the currently available types of diagnostic tools and treatments for skin cancer.
I run the regional Mohs Micrographic Service at the Portsmouth Dermatology Centre, and serve on a number of regional and national committees for skin cancer. I participate in The American Society of Mohs Surgery Quality Assurance Programme and am a Faculty member of the British Society of Dermatological Surgery. I've also participated in numerous clinical trials in non-melanoma skin cancer.
I trained at St Thomas and after training in Dermatology in Leicester, Sheffield and Edinburgh, I undertook basic research at Sheffield which was extended into a project in rural Malaysia. Subsequently I trained in Dermatological surgery and Mohs Micrographic Surgery in the UK, Seattle, San Diego and Charleston, USA.
I am the President elect for the British Society for Dermatological Surgery (BSDS) (2017-2021): Responsible for coordinating advanced dermatological surgery and Mohs training and education in the UK. In this role I'm also responsible for national guidelines and audits relating to skin cancer surgery.
I was a Treasurer for BSDS from 2015-2017: In this role I was responsible for coordinating the expansion of the Society’s portfolio and charitable grants.
Chair for Wessex Skin site specific Skin Cancer group since 2006: Responsible for coordinating skin cancer policy in Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset.
Lead clinician Mohs Micrographic Surgery service Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust: One of only six centres nationally to provide formal training in Mohs Surgery.
