Background Information
Professional profile:
I trained in Gastroenterology in London and South Carolina USA.
I spent 3 years with Professor Michael Farthing's unit at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London focussing on IBD and Chronic & Infective Diarrhoea. Subsequently a year at The Royal Free Hospital concentrating mainly on IBD and IBS as well as general gastroenterology.
I undertook an International Fellowship in Pancreatobiliary Medicine and advanced therapeutic endoscopy with Professor Peter Cotton in Charleston, SC, USA from 2000 - 2002. This high quality sought after post gave me 18 months of dedicated tutoring in all aspects of pancreatobiliary medicine and advanced therapies in endoscopy, but also opened my eyes to outcome based medicine an important facet of my practice now.
Hence, my main areas of interest now as listed above; Chronic diarrhoea, IBD, IBS and all aspects of endoscopic practice.
Militarily, I deploy once every 12 - 18 months, which is something I enjoy. I am the driving force behind the Military Enteric Disease Group, recently established to focus on the age old, and often misunderstood, problem of infective diarrhoea in deployed troops. This is the commonest medical problem in these soldiers and effective management and prevention can have a great impact both individually and operationally.
Personal profile:
Married with three girls(15, 13 and 7) all schooled locally. My wife (Elaine) is a primary school teacher in Guildford and we all live locally in Frimley.

As a family, we just enjoy what time we can get together, which is limited and precious. I enjoy most sports and like most of my family (they have little choice), am a fervent Liverpool FC fan!
