Philip Rosell studied medicine at Guys Hospital in London, and gained an additional degree (BSc) in the history of medicine and ancient history. Philip also trained in France learning advanced techniques in arthroscopy and joint replacement of the shoulder and elbow.
After qualifying Philip performed his initial medical posts in Portsmouth and at the Cambridge Military Hospital before embarking on his formal military service with the Parachute Regiment in Aldershot and Northern Ireland. He then carried out surgical training in Wessex, with some time spent on plastic surgery, followed by a specialist fellowship in Grenoble and Oxford where he was trained under Professor Carr in the shoulder and elbow unit.
Philip Rosell has been working at Frimley Park Hospital since 2005. After 25 years of military service and 4 operational tours of Iraq and Afghanistan, where on his most recent tour he was able to act as a mentor and pass on some of the military trauma experience to more junior military surgeons, he has become a full-time NHS surgeon also practicing privately at Spire Clare Park Hospital.
