Spire Cheshire Hospital is part of Spire Weight Loss Surgery, a group of hospitals in the north west of England and Wales offering effective weight loss surgery, also known as bariatric or obesity surgery.
The benefits of weight loss
Losing weight can improve life expectancy. It can also dramatically reduce symptoms and many of the risks commonly associated with increased body weight.
Weight loss can improve your physical health and your psychological health by reducing depression, increasing self-belief and improving confidence, leading to an overall improvement in well-being and quality of life.
Our weight loss team at Cheshire
Our multidisciplinary team led approach to care ensures that your consultation, treatment and after care are carried out by experts in their field. At Spire Cheshire Hospital our expert weight loss consultant general surgeon Mr Robert Macadam is supported by a dedicated bariatric weight loss team, specialist nurses and dieticians. With our clinical expertise on hand, you can make an informed decision about whether weight loss surgery is right for you.
A range of weight loss surgery procedures
Our hospitals provide a comprehensive weight loss surgery service including gastric banding, gastric bypass, gastric sleeve and gastric balloon (Orbera Weight Loss Balloon) and all types of revision (redo) surgery. At Spire Cheshire Hospital we currently perform the gastric band procedure.
To find out more about our procedures please visit the Spire Weight Loss Surgery website.
Fixed Price Packages
We offer fixed price packages for all of our procedures which covers your two year follow up care, any band fill adjustments (gastric band patients only) and high dependency unit care (HDU) should you require it.
Our two-year follow up aftercare package includes regular face-to-face, email and telephone conversations with our bariatric team. You will also become a lifelong member of our bariatric peer support group, giving you the opportunity to socialise with people who have undergone the same life changing surgery.
Are you eligible for surgery?
The upper limit for a healthy body mass index (BMI) is 25. If your BMI goes over 40, your risk of health problems associated with obesity increases significantly. At this point you would become a potential candidate for weight loss surgery.
If your BMI is less than 35, there are still non-surgical treatments available to help you lose weight.
Free information appointment
If you’re interested in weight loss surgery, you can find out more about our range of treatments by attending a free appointment with our bariatric nurse at Spire Cheshire Hospital. If you would like to proceed further, a full consultation can be made with our consultant surgeon, at a time that is convenient for you.
When considering weight loss surgery, many thoughts and questions may come into your mind. That's why we hold free open evenings to help you make an informed decision. The information evenings provide you with impartial advice and are a good opportunity to meet our consultant and ask any questions you may have.
