Background Information
Professional profile:

Mr Acharya qualified from the University of Mumbai, India in 1994. After completing an orthopaedic postgraduate degree in Mumbai, he moved to the U.K. In 2001, he commenced higher surgical training on the Mersey Deanery rotation. In January 2006 he further developed his interest in lower limb arthroplasty by pursuing the Exeter hip fellowship, and whilst there, undertaking research into the mechanical properties of cement. Following this he did a further fellowship in lower limb reconstruction and arthroplasty in Melbourne with Neil Bergman. Mr. Acharya returned to the northwest in January 2007 to work at Royal Liverpool and Wrightington hospitals. Here he gained further experience in sports medicine knee surgery prior to taking up a consultant post at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

His current practice mainly involves trauma and surgery of the hip and knee. Most of his elective surgery work is hip and knee joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery of the knee and ACL reconstruction.

He is a keen teacher and regularly participates in postgraduate training. He is a faculty member for AO and Exeter hip course. He has published his work in peer-reviewed literature and has contributed to orthopaedic book chapters. His NHS practice is based at Warrington and Halton Hospitals.
