It’s now 25 years since we first opened our doors back in 1988, originally under the Bupa name until the group’s 25 private hospitals were bought in 2007 and re-branded as Spire Healthcare.
Since then we’ve gone from strength to strength. The hospital now employs over 300 staff and has around 190 consultants working at the hospital. Patient care is at the heart of everything we do and as a result satisfaction levels for our services continue to stay high
Recently Spire Cheshire has contributed significant investment into expanding its radiology department and all the bedrooms have been refurbished there is free Wi-Fi access throughout the hospital.
Three of the consultants who were instrumental in the setting up of the hospital have been looking back over the last 25 years and reminiscing about their early days at the hospital.
Dr Barry Linaker, Consultant Gastroenterologist, treated the first patient back in 1988 and he remembers the early years with great fondness. “There was a need to have private healthcare facilities in Warrington, the nearest private hospitals were in Manchester and Liverpool so patients had to travel quite a distance for private healthcare. When Spire Cheshire Hospital opened in 1988 we felt proud that we had finally opened such a fabulous new facility”
Mr Clive Peckar, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Consultant Obstetrician David Entwistle, who retired in 2009 said that the hospital is a fantastic place to work and that the staff and consultants all work well together to deliver an exceptional service to patients
Staff and consultants all celebrated the 25th milestone with a celebratory lunch with Ryan Atkins as a special guest.
