Spire Cheshire hospital provides a service, which has been specially tailored, for the treatment and care of women needing diagnosis of breast problems. All the consultants are acknowledged experts in the management of breast disease and are supported by a team of specialists across a range of services, from diagnosis through to treatment and advice.
The facility
The Rapid Access Breast Clinic is based in the out-patients department at Spire Cheshire Hospital. The Diagnostic Imaging Department at the hospital has the facilities for performing mammograms and ultrasound scans.
The service
Women referred to the clinic will benefit from a consultation followed by a mammogram and ultrasound and where clinically indicated cyst aspiration** / biopsy**. This process can normally be completed within 2 hours. Following a cyst aspiration**, pathology results can normally be obtained within 24 hours.
The care
At Spire Cheshire Hospital we offer an enhanced breast care service. Our Breast Care Nurse Specialist works closely with the Consultant General Surgeon who is a specialist in breast surgery. The nurse is present during the patient consultation and is always available in clinics when patients are given their results, irrespective of whether the results are positive or negative. A Consultant Radiologist and specialist radiographer (mammographer) are present to carry out any imaging procedures that may be necessary e.g. mammography or ultrasound.
Do I need a GP referral?
All women attending the breast clinic at Spire Cheshire Hospital must have a referral from their GP or an NHS breast screening centre.
Cost
The cost of the One-Stop Rapid Access Breast Clinic is from £395* which is payable on the day. **A cyst aspiration / biopsy may incur an additional cost
How do I pay for the treatment?
To make payment easier and more convenient for you, we offer a flexible range of options. If you are not claiming on your insurance, you can pay by cheque, credit or debit card, or cash. Your out-patient charges will need to be settled on the day of your appointment.
What If I have private medical insurance?
Breast surgery or investigations are usually covered by private medical insurance. So, if you’re insured contact your insurer to ask whether you’re covered for the treatment or tests you need, and please bring your insurance documents or any pre-authorisation numbers to your first out-patient appointment
