Also, I perform shoulder replacement surgery including reverse shoulder replacement. I work exclusively with disorders of the hand and upper limb. I have been working in the field of orthopaedics for the past 16 years and specialise in all aspects including fractures of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder and peripheral nerve problems.

My practice includes the management of common disorders of the upper limb such as nerve entrapments (carpal tunnel syndrome etc), trigger fingers, ganglions, Dupuytren's disease and arthritis of the hand and wrist. I also perform finger joint replacement and wrist stabilisation surgery. To date, I have successfully performed over 1,400 carpal tunnel releases and over 600 Dupuytren's. I have also carried out more than 1,000 arthroscopic procedures on the shoulder and over 100 shoulder replacements including reverse shoulder replacement.

I am also competent in complex upper limb trauma.

Q & A

Shoulder arthroscopy: What to expect and recovery

Mr Nasir Shah, Consultant Orthopaedic and Upper Limb Surgeon, says a shoulder arthroscopy is a procedure used to inspect, diagnose and to repair the shoulder joint. An arthroscopy is recommended when non operative treatment like physiotherapy and injections do not work.

The procedure is carried out under general anaesthesia and patients can expect to wear a shoulder sling depending on the severity of the surgery.
