I have been a consultant general and gastro-intestinal surgeon in Warrington since 1995. My gastro-intestinal practice is broadly based but more focused on the upper GI tract. Outside GI work, I am regularly involved with general paediatric surgery, thyroid surgery and with management of complex hernias. Gastro-oesophageal reflux is a major interest and I provide a service for all aspects of management. This includes investigation (endoscopy, oesophageal manometry, 24 hour oesophageal pH study), surgical treatment (anti-reflux surgery) and endoscopic management of complications (oesophageal stricture, Barrett's oesophagus). I asses and treat oesophageal motility disorders such as cardial achalasia. My work with gastro-oesophageal cancer includes diagnosis, staging, surgical resection and palliative endoscopic treatment (stent insertion, laser therapy). My laparoscopic work includes laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic antireflux surgery and laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. My adult hernia work also includes management of incisional hernia and recurrent hernias. In the paediatric surgical field, I manage phimosis, inguinal hernia and testicular maldescent. I perform thyroid resection for both benign and neoplastic disease.

I am married, have three children aged from 14 to 19 years of age and live in Frodsham. For a long time I have been a keen gardener and collect succulent plants (cacti and others). As a family we enjoy outdoor walking and travel. Fishing is also a family pursuit including coarse, fly and sea fishing. I have taken up motorcycling, both for pleasure and efficient transport.
