Plastic surgery is a unique speciality because it is dependant on technique rather than any particular body region. It requires various skills including in depth theoretical knowledge of body anatomy and function, artistic appreciation of concepts of beauty and harmony of different body parts, and very refined and sophisticated surgical techniques with thorough knowledge of tissue blood supply, healing characteristics and moulding ability (hence term Plastic Surgery).
It is one speciality which requires very long and intense training and is different from simple cosmetic surgery which may have very limited scope.
My training started in 1993 after I did my post graduation i.e. FRCS, minimum entry criteria for plastic surgery training. After 12 years of training at different levels I became a consultant in the NHS in 2005 (A seal of approval of completion of training to the highest level).
I do most of the reconstructive and aesthetic range including Breast reconstruction, Skin cancers, Facial Palsy, Hand surgery and all aspects of Cosmetic/Reconstructive surgery. I introduced many new techniques in my speciality including a unique way of breast reconstruction and presented and published extensively in peer reviewed journals.
My philosophy about life is to have a balanced view in all aspects and always look at the bigger picture. I am an optimist by nature and strive for the best. I am sympathetic, honest and believe in active participation of patients in making their decision/choice of procedures.
I am actively involved in charitable medical activities including operating in disaster stricken areas and promoting medical teaching and training in developing countries. I have worked on various simulation models for teaching. I like travelling, physical fitness and spending time with family.
