Background Information

Professional profile:

I qualified in Dentistry in Liverpool (1983) and Medicine in Manchester (1994). Following higher surgical training, I was appointed as a Consultant in 2003. My main professional interest is the management of patients with oral cancer (resection, reconstruction and rehabilitation).

I am Lead Clinician for head and neck cancer in my NHS trust and I also act as Regional Adviser for Royal College of Surgeons of England. I regularly examine for Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, both at home and overseas.

I have a strong interest in education and run courses both nationally and internationally, in addition to being invited to give lectures.

Personal profile:

I play the trumpet and played in the Lancashire Youth Jazz Ensemble and Lancashire Youth Brass Band whilst at school.

I have a keen interest in many sports (mainly football, golf and skiing) and photography. Recently I have begun to learn the guitar (but not very successfully so far!)
