Electro diagnostic studies (NCS and EMG) help in the localization of disorders of the peripheral nervous system. This diagnostic test is of benefit to colleagues in several specialties to assess patients presenting with symptoms suggestive of peripheral nerve dysfunction and helps to accurately plan further management in conjunction with imaging studies, muscle and nerve biopsies and blood tests. Post operative/ interventional objective assessments of patient’s symptoms are also facilitated by the above tests that I undertake.
I also interpret adult EEG’s on request from colleagues to help with diagnostic workup.
