One Stop Carpal Tunnel Clinic

Spire Cheshire Hospital is pleased to announce the launch of a dedicated one stop carpal tunnel clinic . At the one stop carpal tunnel clinic you will receive all the necessary investigations to confirm the diagnosis, if carpal tunnel syndrome is confirmed and surgery is recommended you may be treated on the same day.

If carpal tunnel syndrome is confirmed and surgery is recommended you can be treated on the same day.

The clinic will be led by Mr Nasir Shah, Consultant Orthopaedic and Upper Limb Surgeon and he will work closely with our physiotherapy department to ensure you receive the best treatment from diagnosis through to rehabilitation.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most common upper limb disorders. It occurs when there is too much pressure on a nerve in the wrist. This can cause tingling, numbness or pain in your hand, wrist or forearm.

How does the one stop carpal tunnel clinic work?

At your initial consultation you will be seen by Mr Shah who will assess your symptoms, examine you and review your completed questionnaire, which is sent to you prior to the appointment. Your responses will then be analysed and if Mr Shah suspects carpal tunnel syndrome he will arrange for a nerve conduction test to be carried out in our out-patient department.

Following the test Mr Shah will confirm if you have carpal tunnel syndrome. If you require surgery this may be performed on the same day. Alternative arrangements can be made if this is more convenient.

If Mr Shah suspects an alternative diagnosis you may be seen by our Physiotherapy department who will provide you with alternative treatments such as a splint or an advice sheet (if recommended).

When is the one stop carpal tunnel clinic held?

The clinic will run on a Tuesday afternoon, with the surgery being performed on a Tuesday evening.

How much does it cost?

The cost for a consultation, nerve conduction studies and physiotherapy advice (if required) is £395. If you require surgery there will be additional fee. If you are not suitable for the one stop carpal tunnel service you may be referred for additional investigations, such as an X-ray. These services will incur additional costs.

For more information, prices or to book an appointemnt with Mr Nasir Shah please call 01925 215029 or complete our enquiry form.
