March 2010
Fourteen Year 10 students from Cardinal Newman School spent the day at Spire Cheshire Hospital and took part in interactive sessions with the Hospital Director, physiotherapists, theatre staff and the business development team to help raise their awareness of the different career options available to them and raise their aspirations about moving onto higher education.
Monica Barnett from AimHigher Cheshire & Warrington said “ Many of the students are interested in careers in healthcare so this was a fantastic opportunity to give the students a first hand experience of what working in a hospital entails and how best to gain the qualifications and skills to achieve this”
Hospital Director, Andrew Eadsforth said “We were delighted to be asked to provide this support to the students to give them an insight into the varied careers available in a hospital setting. Some of the students were particularly interested in careers in physiotherapy and we were able to explain to them how to go about training to become a physio and what the job involves.”
