Gary Rosbotham-Williams, Consultant Radiologist at Spire Cheshire Hospital will be taking on the formidable descent down the 11th highest mountain in May and he will be donating all the money he raises to Sarnelli House, an orphanage in Thailand for children with aids.
Gary is a former Great Britain Paralympic athlete, his right arm was amputated at the age of 14 as a result of cancer, so this is a very serious and dangerous challenge that requires a high level of fitness and snowboarding skills.
Gary has always been a keen snowboarder and when he stopped competitive cycling he wanted a new goal, something that was a major personal challenge rather than a competition. So, he came up with the idea of snowboarding down Mont Blanc as it is a mountain that is climbed by many people but few descend on snowboard.
