You shouldn't be scared of having a cervical smear test. It's a very simple procedure that could help save your life.
At Spire Cheshire Hospital, we now offer a cervical smear test service for women who would prefer to have this vital test carried out in the comfort of a private hospital.
We offer a confidential, private cervical smear test service, carried out by consultant gynaecologists, in our out-patient department.
While cervical smears are, of course, available on the NHS for women over 25, our clinic is able to carry out smear tests, in some cases, on sexually active women under 25. You do not need to be referred by a GP for this service.
Gardisil vaccinations
Spire Cheshire Hospital also offer the Gardisil vaccine that gives young women protection from most forms of cervical cancer and also helps prevent genital warts and pre-cancerous cervical lesions. The vaccine is available for young women who are not yet sexually active.
The vaccine, which is administered over a course of 3 injections in a 6 month period, offers protection against 4 types of the 'human papillomavirus' (2 of which cause 70% of cervical cancer cases, and the other 2 cause 90% of genital warts), compared to just 1 type of virus offered by alternative vaccines
