Background Information
Professional profile:

I trained in medicine at the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff, graduating in 1997. My post-graduate surgical training was undertaken in Surrey, London, Hampshire and South Wales. I obtained Specialist recognition in 2012 and have undertaken specialist training Fellowships in Advanced Pelvic Oncology in Swansea and in Cytoreductive Surgery in Basingstoke.

I was appointed to Cardiff in 2013 as a Consultant General and Colorectal surgeon as part of a placement from the Ministry of Defence and I continue to serve as a regular Army Officer. Clinically I practice at University Hospital Llandough and University Hospital of Wales where I undertake both elective and emergency duties in both General and Colorectal surgery. In addition to this I have served in Military operational environments at home and abroad.

My research involved the genetic interrogation of human colorectal carcinoma and the role of lymphangiogenesis the development of secondary disease. Current research interests include quality outcomes following elective and emergency surgery and trauma management. I have responsibility within UHW for the training of surgical trainees in Emergency Surgery and am the General Surgery Trauma Lead.

I am married with 3 children and we share an huge interest in the outdoors spending much of our spare time caving, climbing mountains or biking.
