Professional profile
Dr Wheeler trained in medicine at the University of Birmingham. He began my specialist cardiology training in the West Midlands before moving back to Wales in 2003. He completed his subspecialty training in echocardiography at the University Hospital of Wales.
He was appointed Consultant Cardiologist in 2008 and perform most of the specialist echocardiography at the University Hospital of Wales. Dr Wheeler is clinical lead for echocardiography at Llandough where he also provides a general cardiology service. He is also the clinical lead for myocardial perfusion imaging at the University Hospital of Wales.
