I joined Spire Cardiff Hospital in 2000. I worked in the NHS in radiotherapy cancer management for 10 years from 1984, and then retrained in physiotherapy and worked as a NHS physiotherapist from 1997.
Spire has given me a great opportunity to extend my physiotherapy skills and I have had significant experience helping post operative patients who have had hip, back/neck or knee procedures with their return to activity. I have also had a wide range of experience with rehabilitating of sports injuries, general musculoskeletal conditions and soft tissue injuries.
From my days in radiotherapy, I am well aware it can be difficult for cancer patients who have had surgery and radiotherapy to regain best movement and function. I have a special interest in shoulder and neck physiotherapy which has enhanced my skills with my work with breast cancer treatments. I was fortunate to have my research on breast cancer rehabilitation published, and I see patients in the department to assist with their ongoing recovery
