Mr Vinod Kumar is a consultant opthalmic surgeon at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff and the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend with a subspeciality interest in anterior segment diseases.

After graduating from the University of Manchester Medical School, his general opthalmology training was completed in London and Birmingham. He went on to do specialist training in cornea and anterior segment surgery and glaucoma. He was then awarded the ERTN Fellowship and spent a period of six months at the University of Crete, Greece, where he trained in refractive surgery under the tutelage of Professor I Pallikaris, widely regarded as the father of LASIK surgery.

Mr Kumar has numerour publications to his name, and has presented over 50 research papers at national and international conferences. His research interests include new technology intra-ocular lenses and lamellar corneal graft surgery. Mr Kumar is a member of the UK and Ireland, European and American Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
