Mr Shibendra Datta is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. Mr Datta qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1990. He obtained the FRCS (Eng.) in 1994 and trained in urology in South Wales. Mr Datta spent two years as a research fellow at the University of Wales College of Medicine and obtained his MD thesis in 1999. Higher surgical training was completed in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea. As well as practising most aspects of general urology, his subspecialist interests are stone surgery and minimally invasive urology. He also has a secondary interest in urodynamics and female incontinence surgery.

Mr Datta was born in Caerphilly and educated in Bristol. He is married with a small daughter. He is a proficient pianist and obtained Grade 8 qualification before starting university. He has organised musical charity performances in the past, but now continues to play for personal pleasure.
