Professional profile:

Mr Rajkumar hails from Bangalore in the Southern part of India. He arrived in the UK after gaining considerable experience as a general Opthalmologist both in India and the Middle East.

His post graduate MS qualification is from a reputed national institute in Chandigarh, Punjab. This enabled him to undertake the extremely competitive SpR training in the UK. He trained in Nottingham Queens Medical Centre and Birmingham Midland Eye Centre as a specialist registrar and completed his training with a highly regarded glaucoma fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

He was appointed consultant at Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust last March and shares his duties betrween University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff and Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend. He is one of a small number of experts to offer temporal corneal phacoemulsification and specialised procedures to treat glaucoma including lasers and enhanced trabeculectomy. His main interests are cataract and glaucoma. His research interest is improving glaucoma care in the community.
