David Scott-Coombes is a consultant in endocrine and general surgery at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. He provides a comprehensive service for all aspects of endocrine surgery (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal) working in a multidisciplinary team with endocrinologists, radiologists and oncologists. In addition he undertakes elective general surgery including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia surgery, lymph node surgery and 'lumps and bumps'.

David Scoot-Coombes qualified from Westminster Hospital, London and trained in Chester, Oxford and London. He obtained an MS thesis and then received his specialist training at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital, London. He was appointed as a consultant in endocrine and general surgery at King's College Hospital, London in 1996 and moved to Cardiff in 2002. He has published chapters in major surgical textbooks on endocrine and gall bladder surgery. He has lectured widely on parathyoid surgery.
