Background Information
Professional profile:

I graduated from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff in 1987 and after PRHO posts in Cardiff and Newport, demonstrated anatomy in Leeds before returning to South Wales and Bristol as an SHO. Iwas a Research Registrar in Cardiff before moving to Nottingham. I subsequently trained in Adelaide, Australia and at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Centre, New York. I was appointed as a Consultant Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgeon in Leicester in 1999 before moving to Cardiff in 2011. My interests are all aspects of Liver, biliary and pancreatic surgery with particular emphasis on laparoscopic cancer surgery.

I have an active research programme focused on the basic biology and treatment of colorectal liver metastases and pancreatic cancer and have published over 200 peer review papers. I hold National offices at the Association of Upper GI Surgeons of GB+I where I am Chair of the audit committee. I sit on the Executive committee of the GB+I HPB Association and on the HPB groups of the NCRI and the NCIN. I am also a specialist advisor to NICE. I sit on the trial management groups of several national trials.

Personal profile:

I have always been very keen on sport, playing numerous representative sports but with a young family my sporting pursuits these days are normally conducted from the touchline! My current sporting interests skiing and golf (handicap 8) and am always keen to explore new courses.
