I graduated from St Andrew's University with a BSc in Medical Science before completing my undergraduate medical training at Edinburgh University. After finishing my basic surgical training in Yorkshire and obtaining membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh I secured a higher surgical training place in orthopaedics in the Yorkshire Deanery. During this period I became involved in the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association (BOTA) serving in a number of committee posts including that of President. In this role I had the opportunity to attend and contribute to the Councils of a number of national surgical bodies. In addition I completed a postgraduate Diploma in Sports & Exercise Medicine at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. After passing the intercollegiate fellowship examination in trauma and orthopaedics I gained further specialist training in arthroscopy, knee and shoulder surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Adidas Sports Medicine in Auckland, New Zealand and at the orthopaedic Sports Medicine Clinic of Nova Scotia in Halifax, Canada. My practice in Cardiff includes the provision of orthopaedic trauma care in addition to the management of traumatic and degenerative conditions of the knee, shoulder and elbow.

Outside work my interests include watching sport, in particular Rugby Union. I also enjoy playing, listening to and recording music. The rest of my time is spent trying to fit in exercise, woodturning and spending time with my family.
