After medical school in Cardiff, I entered specialist cardiology training in London in 1996. During my training I took a year out to specialise in Echocardiography in Vancover Canada. My current post is Director Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory and Lead Coronary Interventionalist at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
I also spent time at The Washington Hospital Centre, United States, training in coronary angioplasty. During this period I studied the use of stem cells for the treatment of angina and heart failure. I have a special interest in complex angiography and angioplasty, most of which I perform from the wrist.I am also interested in the clinical applications of novel angina treatments such as gene therapy and stem cells.
