I qualified from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School in London. I obtained my basic anaesthesia training in the Northwest Thames area before moving to Cardiff to complete my higher specialist training. My areas of interest within anaesthesia include teaching, regional anaesthesia and anaesthesia for the elderly. I am a college tutor for the Royal College of Anaesthetists and also the honorary secretary of the Society of Anaesthetists of Wales.

I have been interested in hypnotherapy for a number of years, which culminated in me gaining my Diploma of Hypnotherapy (Distinction with merit) after 2 years of study from the BST Foundation in July 2010. I have full professional registration of both the General Hypnotherapy Register and the Society of Brief Strategic Hypnotherapists. I have lectured about the use of hypnosedation in dental practice and also in the use of hypnosis in maximising performance.

My main areas of interest within hypnotherapy are maximising performance, treatment of phobias, treatment of medical conditions (eg Irritable Bowel syndrome) and its use in the peri-operative setting, which includes weight control and smoking cessation.

Hypnotherapy has the incredible power to tap in to patients’ own inner strengths and help them find long lasting solutions from within. It has been clinically proven to be safe and effective and is the only form of alternative therapy that has been recognised by the British Medical Association.
