Spire Cardiff Hospital is the only private hospital in Wales with a dedicated intensive care unit, this allows us the ability to undertake some of the most advanced complex surgery.
Knowing that you will be safe in our hands at Spire Cardiff Hospital...
Due to this some types of surgery patients may be admitted to the Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU). Patients are admitted here if they require a higher level of nursing care and observation. Sometimes this may be precautionary; or it may be due to the fact they require intensive treatment to recover safely. Most patients will stay in ITU for one or two nights depending on their condition and the procedure they have undergone.
We have a purpose built 3 beded intensive therapy unit fully equiped with highly sophisticated monitoring devices. Our multidisciplinary team, which include medical and nursing staff, are responsible for one or two patients at a time, where close monitoring takes place.
Understanding what Intensive care (Level 3) means:
*Intensive Care is classified as a level 3 which is defined by varying amounts of medical expertise, organ monitoring and support. Ward based care is designated Level 1, with Level 2 being referred to as High Dependency and Level 3 referred to as Intensive Care, which is the highest level. Spire Cardiff Hospital has dedicated provision for all these levels., offeriing patients peace of mind that they can recover safely.
