Professional Profile
I qualified from Bristol University with a medical degree and after house jobs; I gained an MPhil in Human Skeletal Biology from Cambridge University. After completing my basic surgical and trauma & orthopaedic training in Wales, I undertook a one year fellowship in lower limb and sports surgery in Adelaide, South Australia.
I have broad experience in most aspects of trauma and have expertise in lower limb surgery including total hip replacement and all aspects of knee surgery, and surgery of the foot and ankle. My research interests include anterior ligament reconstruction and aspects of total knee replacement.
I am a consultant in trauma and orthopaedic surgery at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, with a sub-speciality interest in lower limb surgery especially of the knee. I am the lead clinician of the orthopaedic department for the Cwm Taff Trust. In addition to this I also hold the role of Honorary Clinical Tutor at Cardiff School of Medicine for my involvement in under graduate education.
Personal profile
I was born in Anglesey, North Wales, but have settled in South Wales with my wife and three children. I am very active in rugby and represented Wales from a schoolboy level up to senior level. I played for Cardiff, Cambridge University and Pontypridd Rugby Clubs.
I enjoy watching rugby now and keep involved by giving my medical services to Pontypridd Rugby Club.
