Graham said “Many of my patients travel from outside of Cambridge to see me and with the full capability of the imaging department at the Lea with their extended opening hours it made sense to offer a “same day” service to enable patients to obtain an MRI scan to confirm a diagnosis and instigate an immediate treatment plan. This will enhance our service and allow a fast track, efficient pathway”.
Graham said “It is often difficult to adequately assess the severity of a shoulder injury and the structures damaged following sports injuries, a simple muscle strain can appear very similar to a more serious injury. Advances in the understanding and diagnosis of these injuries has been led by an increased use of MRI and ultrasound scans. This, in turn, has allowed for earlier and more effective treatment of conditions by a combination of physiotherapy and rehabilitation and the use of arthroscopic surgery (keyhole surgery).”
