Greenlight Laser

Mr Antony Riddick, consultant urologist, is now offering the Greenlight laser treatment at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital.

Photoselective Greenlight laser vapourisation is an alternative surgical procedure for treating the enlarged prostate.

All men with symptoms that relate to the obstruction of outflow of urine from the bladder because of prostate disease are suitable for this kind of surgery and even if they have had surgery before.

Compared to other surgical options, Greenlight laser surgery has advantages.

Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate

Mr Tev Aho, consultant urologist, has been offering Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (link) at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital since 2005 and is the most experienced HoLEP surgeon in the UK.

HoLEP is a treatment option for any man with urinary symptoms or urinary retention due to an obstructive prostate. HoLEP is unique in that it has been proven to be equally safe and effective for virtually any man suffering from prostate obstruction including:

 

  • Men with any size prostate
  • Men of any age
  • Men who have had a catheter placed due to retention of urine
  • Men who have had previous Greenlight laser or TURP surgery
  • Men who have had previous Prostate Artery Embolisation
  • Men who wish to avoid blood transfusion
  • Men taking blood thinning medications e.g. aspirin, clopidogrel, rivoroxaban, warfarin
  • Men with multiple medical problems
