Mr Al-Dubaisi is the Clinical Lead for Breast Cancer at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust, as well as the lead quality assurance breast surgeon for the North London Breast Screening Unit. The North London Breast Screening Service (NLBSS) is part of the National Breast Screening Programme and is one of the largest breast screening services in England.
At Spire Bushey Hospital, Mr Al-Dubaisi runs rapid access, triple assessment clinics for women with concerns about their breasts. His team include specialist breast care nurses, consultant breast radiologists and pathologists who aim for results within 24 hours, avoiding a long and anxious wait. Mr Al-Dubaisi's special interests are the management of benign and malignant breast diseases as well as management of high risk patients and selecting patients for immediate breast reconstruction when indicated.
Treatment for all breast cancer patients is discussed at the weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings at Spire Bushey and the team work together to create a dedicated treatment plan for each patient. It is widely recognised that having a committed multi-disciplinary team to consider all treatment options results in the most effective care plan for the patient . Indeed the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the NHS Cancer Plan that recommend the treatment of everyone with cancer should be managed by a multidisciplinary team.
Mr Al-Dubaisi’s significant experience has benefitted a huge number of patients in the region. He is recognised by his peers as leaving no stone unturned in the diagnosis and treatment of his patients. He lectures widely to GPs and to patient groups on the importance of early diagnosis and the latest treatment techniques. He works with a team of highly regarded Consultant Oncologists and Plastic Surgeons who together provide patients optimum care. In the National Mastectomy and Breast Reconstruction Audit 2011, patients rated their satisfaction with their surgeon and clinical team at 100%.
