I am trained in all aspects of cardiology but have sub-specialised in invasive and interventional cardiology, and coronary angioplasty and stenting in particular. I have an interest in complex coronary intervention including rotablation and the minimally invasive treatment of longstanding arterial blockages (chronic occlusions).

I trained in medicine at Guys’ and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London and specialised in cardiology at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, and the London Chest Hospital. I was jointly appointed as an NHS consultant in 2008 to Barnet, Chase Farm and The London Chest Hospitals (Barts and the London NHS Trust).

I have undertaken research in the treatment of heart attacks, and participated in the development of the London Chest Hospital’s Heart Attack Centre, now one of the largest services of its kind in the UK. I am currently performing research into new technologies to help support the heart through surgery and in the treatment of heart failure.

I have a strong commitment to the training and education of future interventional cardiologists and am a Director of the Cardiovascular Training Institute at Barts and the London NHS Trust.

When not at work I spend as much time as possible with my wife, three sons and baby daughter. I am passionate about sport. I am a keen cyclist on and off road, and have always played football with enthusiasm, although my sons tell me I should stick to hearts. Originally from Manchester I am an avid Manchester United supporter. When not watching football at Old Trafford, I am a touchline Dad supporting my sons.
