Spire Bushey consultant cardiologist Dr Amanda Varnava was recently quoted in a Daily Mail article on 'The bits of your body that nature got wrong'.
Dr Varnava commented on a secret pouch found in the heart which can cause blood clots. She said: "It is completely redundant — it has no functional role. However, if someone has poor circulation, then blood can pool there. When this happens, it is easy for clots to form and cause a stroke."
Dr Varnava also took part in a study for the Mirror where four readers underwent heart health assessments to find out their risk of heart attack in the next ten years. Dr Varnava advised the readers on how to reduce these risks.
