One of Spire Bushey Hospital's radiographers Beth Malsbury was featured in this week's Watford Observer to share her story of travelling to America to receive treatment for temporomandibular joint disorder.
Beth, who worked at Spire Bushey Hospital for nine years, moved to Boston with her husband Lewis at the end of January, to receive treatment for a condition she has been suffering with for the last six years. She was diagnosed with temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJD), which left her jaw permanently dislocated, in 2007 and her only hope was to get neuromuscular dentistry treatment from America.
She is now in Canton, Massachusetts, awaiting her treatment after months of fundraising back home in Hertfordshire. Beth said: “I am happy and excited that the treatment is going ahead but most of all I think I am relieved.” Fundraising is still ongoing, with a Zumbathon planned for March.
