Mr Richard Carrington is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Hip and Knee Surgery.

Mr Carrington’s area of expertise include hip and knee replacement surgery, knee surgery for injuries including meniscal tears and cruciate ligament ruptures, and cartilage transplantation. 

He qualified as a Doctor in 1989 after training at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School.  He underwent specialist Orthopaedic surgical training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.  He was a lecturer at the Institute of Orthopaedics at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital for a period of 2 years towards the end of his training programme.  He was appointed as a Consultant to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in 2003.  Prior to taking up the appointment he underwent Specialist Fellowship training in hip and knee surgery at Harvard, in Boston USA. 

Mr Carrington continues to have a keen academic interest and publishes regularly in peer review journals.  He also is an enthusiastic teacher and is invited to speak on his areas of expertise both at national and international orthopaedic meetings.  He runs 5 courses a year at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital training junior Surgeon’s in various techniques of hip and knee surgery.
