Mr Hextall has previously spent 2 and a half years performing research into female bladder problems with Professor Linda Cardozo at King's College Hospital.

Mr Andrew Hextall is currently a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. He sees out patients and operates at Watford General Hospital, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans City Hospitals.

He has a special interest in female bladder problems and prolapse, having undertaken specialist surgical training and research in Urogynaecology. He has written a large number of publications including book chapters and scientific papers in medical journals. He has also lectured at meetings both in the UK and abroad. He is responsible for providing urodynamic investigations across the Trust and holds specialist continence clinics. 

Mr Hextall has also been fully trained in laparoscopic surgery and has a particular interest in the treatment of pelvic pain. In the Trust, he frequently performs laser surgery for endometriosis. He is happy to treat most ovarian cysts using 'key hole' techniques.

Mr Hextall also welcomes patients with general gynaecological problems such as heavy, irregular or painful periods.

Mr Hextall has been married since 1992 and has three children who are a tremendous source of fun. Apart from family activities, his main interest outside work is sport. He coaches and referees junior rugby, cycles and exercises in the gym on a weekly basis. When the opportunity arises he also likes to play golf.
